Adoption

For the few who
can't go back.

Most animals that recover at PACS are returned to the streets they came from — their territory, their community, their life. Adoption is only for the small number that cannot safely do that.

A dog ready for adoption at PACS

PACS is a hospital, not a shelter. Adoption is only available for the small number of animals that cannot safely return to street life after recovery. We do not take in healthy animals, and we do not arrange overseas adoptions directly. If you are looking to adopt a dog or cat from Thailand, please contact one of the partner organisations listed below.

When adoption happens

The vast majority of animals that recover at PACS go back to where they came from. That is the right outcome. A stray dog that has lived in a particular area knows where to find food, has an established social structure, and often has human neighbours who look out for it. Returning it there is not a compromise — it is the best possible result of treatment.

There are exceptions. Some animals, after recovery, are not safe to return to street life: a dog with severe chronic conditions that require ongoing management, an animal left blind by an eye injury, an animal so severely injured that independent living is no longer possible. For these individuals, we look for a permanent home.

This is a small number of animals relative to our overall caseload — but for each one, finding the right home is important work, and we take it seriously.

Overseas adoptions — partner organisations

PACS does not arrange overseas adoptions directly. For overseas placement, we refer enquiries to three trusted partner organisations that have the networks, international transport experience, and adoption processes to handle it well. Please contact them directly.

Koh Phangan Animal Lovers

Based on Koh Phangan. Contact Sabrina via the Facebook group for local and overseas adoption enquiries.

Lanta Animal Welfare

Based on Koh Lanta. Experienced in international adoptions and overseas transport. Email: adoption@lantaanimalwelfare.com

Dog Rescue Center Samui

Based on Koh Samui. Established adoption and international placement programme. Email: info@samuidog.org

These organisations operate independently of PACS. We refer to them because we trust their work — but please contact them directly for adoption enquiries. PACS cannot facilitate or oversee overseas placements.

Looking for a home

Animals available for adoption

These animals have recovered but cannot safely return to street life. Each one needs a permanent, loving home.

Toyota — dog available for adoption

Toyota

Dog · Male · Around 4 years · Neutered

Hit by a truck on the coast road. After weeks of surgery and rehabilitation, Toyota recovered well but lost the use of his back left leg. He cannot safely navigate traffic-heavy streets and needs a home with a garden or enclosed space.

Medical notes: Amputee (rear left). Otherwise healthy, vaccinated, neutered. Needs joint supplements long-term.

Pai Mei — cat available for adoption

Pai Mei

Cat · Female · Around 2 years · Spayed

Found near Thong Sala market with a severe fungal skin infection that had been untreated for months. After three months of treatment her coat has grown back beautifully, but she is now too comfortable around humans to return to street life safely.

Medical notes: Skin condition resolved. Spayed, vaccinated. No ongoing treatment needed.

Bonesy — dog available for adoption

Bonesy

Dog · Male · Around 6 years · Neutered

A long-term PACS resident. Bonesy arrived with a broken jaw that healed at an angle, making it difficult for him to eat hard food. He has been at the clinic for over a year and is gentle, affectionate, and good with other dogs.

Medical notes: Healed jaw malunion — needs soft food. Neutered, vaccinated, otherwise healthy.

Somchai — dog available for adoption

Somchai

Adoption pending
Dog · Male · Around 8 years · Neutered

Brought in blind in one eye after a territorial fight. The other eye has a chronic condition that needs daily drops. He is calm, house-trained, and bonds deeply with one person.

Medical notes: Blind left eye (enucleated). Right eye: daily lubricating drops. Neutered, vaccinated.

Recovery first, always

Help us heal the animals who need us.

Adoption is the rare exception. Treatment is the daily work. Every donation funds the recovery care that gives animals a chance — whether that ends in a return to the street or a new home.
