Fridays
at the clinic.

Every Friday, PACS opens its doors to visitors — tourists, supporters, and island residents who want to see the work. The PR volunteer makes those visits count: guided tours, merchandise, donation collection, and photography.

What the PR role involves

Koh Phangan draws a steady flow of travellers, long-stay expats, and return visitors who already know about PACS. Friday open days give them a reason to visit in person — to see the clinic, meet the team, and understand where their support goes. The PR volunteer makes that experience worth having.

Open-day tours

Guiding visitors through the clinic, explaining the work, answering questions, and describing specific cases in a way that is honest and compelling without being distressing. You are representing PACS to people who may become long-term donors — how you frame the work matters.

Merchandise and donation collection

PACS sells merchandise at open days and has donation boxes placed in partner restaurants and bars around the island. The PR volunteer helps manage sales on Fridays and, on expanded days, collects donation boxes from venues and restocks merchandise stock. This is unglamorous but essential work — the income from open days and donation boxes is a meaningful part of PACS’s fundraising.

Photography

Documenting open days — visitors with animals, the clinic environment, any notable recoveries happening that week — provides material for social media and keeps the PACS community engaged. A good eye and a smartphone are enough.

Who is this role for?

  • Long-stay travellers — people spending several months on the island who can commit to Fridays and occasional extra days
  • Returnees — visitors who have been to PACS before, know the context, and want to give back in a practical way
  • Island residents — expats and long-term residents who can offer reliable availability and continuity
