What virtual volunteers work on

Running a small non-profit hospital on a Thai island means the on-site team has very little time for the digital and communications work that keeps the organisation visible and funded. Virtual volunteers fill that gap — taking on specific, defined tasks that can be done remotely and handed back to the team ready to use.

Below are examples of current and ongoing virtual volunteer tasks. If you have a skill that isn’t listed here but think it could be useful, say so when you apply.

Social media and content

• Monthly newsletter writing and layout — consistent, readable, honest reporting on the clinic’s work
• Social-media editorial calendar — planning what goes out, when, and why, so the team isn’t improvising every week
• Transcription and subtitling for Instagram Reels and video content — captions increase reach and accessibility

Photography and video

• Lightroom preset development — creating a consistent visual look for the clinic’s photos without requiring editing skill from on-site volunteers
• Short-form video editing from raw footage provided by on-site staff
• Animation or motion graphics for fundraising campaigns

Design and web

• Graphic design for fundraising campaigns, merchandise, and print materials
• Website maintenance, content updates, and bug reporting

Writing and research

• Grant writing and funding research — identifying trusts and foundations whose criteria PACS fits
• Case write-ups for the website — compelling but accurate patient stories that help donors understand the impact of their support
